AHL IDI Graduate Programme

The AHL Investment and Data Implementation team are responsible for leading changes to, and day-to-day management of AHL’s quantitative models, systematic trading system and alternative and market data across all traded asset classes.

The team work closely with portfolio managers, research, product structuring, technology and external counterparties to ensure both the accurate implementation and launch of new research ideas, funds and asset classes as well as the constant smooth running of the end-to-end systematic trading process.

The Graduate Programme is designed to provide the successful candidate with hands on experience of the key areas throughout the entire trade lifecycle, with the ultimate goal of creating a well-rounded employee who can utilise their experience and critical thinking to provide solutions across a wide range of complex problems. Graduates will undertake four, six-month, rotations through various teams covering areas such as data science, quantitative implementation, trade operations and middle office accounting.

The open and collaborative nature of Man AHL makes it an ideal place to learn and develop an understanding of what is required to effectively run a systematic hedge fund. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects early on alongside experienced professionals. Graduates will be provided with a mentor to help guide their development throughout the programme.

AHL Quant Research Graduate Programme

About The Programme

Man AHL is a team of researchers, developers and traders of systematic investment strategies. We apply scientific rigour and robust technology to diverse collections of data and hundreds of global markets. Through our innovative and collaborative culture, we aim to generate returns for our clients across a range of diversified products.

The Graduate Programme is designed to provide exposure to all the key areas required to build a successful systematic investment strategy with the ultimate goal of creating well-rounded quantitative analysts who are able to contribute across a wide range of areas. Successful candidates will undertake four 6-month rotations across a variety of quantitative functions covering areas such as alpha research, portfolio construction, execution research and risk management.

The open and collaborative nature of Man AHL makes it an ideal place to learn and develop as a Junior Quantitative Analyst. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects early on. Graduates will be provided with a mentor to help guide their development throughout the programme.

Due to the technical nature of the role, we opt for applicants with strong mathematical, statistical, or computing skills e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics/Econometrics, Engineering or Physics from a reputable university. We welcome education levels from Bachelor’s to PhD level.

Central Trading Graduate Programme

Man Central Trading is a team of more than 50 individuals made of traders, execution researchers and engineers who operate across multiple offices globally. Our mission is to maximise the preservation of alpha in the investment process by delivering superior execution excellence through trading specialisation. In order to achieve this, we leverage best in class execution technology and rigorous execution research.

The Central Trading Graduate Programme is designed to provide exposure to all of the key areas required to build a successful Execution Desk, with the ultimate goal of creating well-rounded Quantitative Traders who are able to contribute across a wide range of areas and products. Successful candidates will undertake four 6-month rotations across a variety of quantitative and trading functions covering areas such as systematic trading, discretionary trading, execution research, alpha research, portfolio construction, and risk management.

The open and collaborative nature of Man Central Trading makes it an ideal place to learn and develop as a Junior Quantitative Trader. It offers a unique vantage point on the rest of the company and its multiple Investment Engines. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects early on. Graduates will be provided with a mentor to help guide their development throughout the programme.

While the ability to work and learn in a fast-paced environment, multitasking, interpersonal skills, attention to details and diligence are essential and required skills for the role, due to its technical nature, we will consider applicants with strong mathematical, statistical or computing skills e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Physics from a reputable university. Finance Graduate Programme

Find your own Finance career path by learning the various nuances of modelling, analysing and reporting financial information within various teams in our Finance department, including Group Tax, Treasury, and Commercial Management. Working alongside our experienced Finance professionals, you will gain a breadth of experience within various different Finance functions.

In a nutshell: Rotate through four 6-month placements in various Finance teams.

Successful candidates for the Finance Graduate Programme will rotate through placements within Finance over a two-year period. Our Graduates will gain a thorough understanding of a range of financial disciplines in addition to being given exposure to different teams and business areas. Man Group offers a mixture of professional studies and on-the-job training opportunities, and every Graduate is assigned a mentor from Finance’s senior management team.

Graduates will gain a broad understanding of the business and, having successfully completed the programme, will be well-placed to develop a long-term career in Finance at Man Group with the opportunity to progress into a leadership role.

GLG Graduate Programme

Man Group offers a mixture of professional studies, the option to pursue a CFA and on-the-job training opportunities, and every Graduate will be assigned firm's senior management team.

GPM Graduate Programme

Man GPM is a pioneer of innovative solutions for clients in private markets, as first movers in distinct strategies across real estate and private credit. Private markets is central to Man’s corporate strategy as it expands its capabilities in unlisted and illiquid asset classes. This sector has been characterised by significant growth over recent decades, comprising an increasingly significant share of global investment portfolios.

Our Graduate Programme is designed for those seeking to contribute to outcomes and make an impact from day one: entry-level joiners assume significant responsibility from the outset, with a comprehensive on-the-job training programme on the various stages of the investment process, including underwriting and financial modelling. This is facilitated by our lean and flat structure, where graduates will join a high-energy team with diverse backgrounds and specialisms.

Graduates will be able to gain insight into how we incorporate ESG and technology into our investment strategies, with opportunities for cross-collaboration with Man’s talented technologists, data scientists, and Responsible Investing researchers. From an impact perspective, our real estate strategies are second to none in terms of their sustainable, social and environmental credentials, with graduates being able to work on projects that deliver tangible outcomes for society, the environment and investors.

Our goal is to develop individuals able to form their own investment view, with a strong understanding of the end-to-end investment process, so that they are well-positioned to take on a role in the industry. Operations Graduate Programme

Explore the different operational aspects of our business and gain insights into the work of our Product and Client Operations team, providing client service to our fund investors and middle and back office support to our investment managers.

In a nutshell: Rotate through three 8-month placements in various Operations & Middle Office teams.

Successful candidates for the Operations Graduate Programme will rotate through placements within Operations & Middle Office teams over a two-year period. Our Graduates will gain a thorough understanding of a range of operational disciplines in addition to being given exposure to different teams and business areas. Man Group offers a mixture of professional studies and on-the-job training opportunities, and every Graduate is assigned a mentor from Operation’s senior management team.

Graduates will gain a broad understanding of the business and, having successfully completed the programme, will be well-placed to develop a long-term career in Operations & Middle Office at Man Group with the opportunity to progress into a leadership role.

Technology Graduate Programme

Successful candidates for the Technology Graduate Programme will rotate through placements within Technology team over a two-year period.

Graduates will work on projects that give them exposure to the whole investment decision making lifecycle allowing them to develop a range of technical, analytical and core engineering skills.

Man Group offers a mixture of professional studies, the option to pursue a fully funded Masters programme (for those without a computer science background) and on-the-job training opportunities, and every Graduate will be assigned a senior technology manager as a mentor.

Graduates will gain a broad understanding of the business and, having successfully completed the programme, will be well-placed to develop a long-term career at Man Group.

Summer Internship Programme

Successful candidates for the Summer Internship Programme will spend 10-weeks sat within one of the following departments; AHL, GLG, GPM, FRM/MSL, RI, Risk, Central Trading. Within their allocated teams, interns will have the opportunity to understand a wide range of different strategies, investment approaches, and learn how their allocated business area fits within Man Group. Therefore, allowing the intern to develop a range of technical, analytical and soft skills.

Please note that successful performance on the Internship Programme does not guarantee a confirmed place on a Graduate Programme. However, depending on performance, interns will have the possibility of being fast-tracked to a later stage of the recruitment process for one of our Graduate Programmes for the following year.

Technology Summer Internship

Gain hands-on experience in one of our Technology teams and benefit from the opportunity to be considered for a place on our Technology Graduate Programme.

In a nutshell: 10-12 week placement in one of our Technology teams.

Length: 10-12 weeks

Start Date: Summer 2024

 

What Happens After I Have Sent My Application?

Step 1: CV Review
Once we have reviewed your CV you will hear from us by email to confirm whether your application is being progressed. We do receive a high volume of applications so there may be a wait to hear back but we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Step 2: Homework Assignment
The next stage will be a technical homework. This should take no longer than two hours for you to complete and if successful, there will be a 30 minute VC interview with one of our engineers to discuss your solution.

Step 3: Technical Interview
There will be a 2 hour 15 minute technical interview with three engineers from the team to assess your coding skills.

Step 4: Final Interview
You will spend 45 minutes with two of our tech managers as a final stage to assess your suitability for the programme, either at our office in London, or we can complete this via VC.
