AHL IDI Graduate Programme
The AHL Investment and Data Implementation team are responsible for leading changes to, and day-to-day management of AHL’s quantitative models, systematic trading system and alternative and market data across all traded asset classes.
The team work closely with portfolio managers, quantitative research, product structuring, technology, and external counterparties to ensure both the accurate implementation and launch of new research ideas, funds, and asset classes as well as the constant smooth running of the end-to-end systematic trading process.
We are seeking highly a motivated individual and exceptional academic with well-developed practical skills and an affinity for financial markets to join the AHL IDI Graduate Programme as Graduate Analysts.
The two-year programme will give you the opportunity to pursue four 6-month rotations across various teams that will assist in helping you hopefully roll off the programme as a Junior Analyst.
You will be provided with the opportunity to work with industry experts and experience cutting-edge commercial quantitative finance research in one of the world’s leading systematic hedge funds.
AHL Quant Talent Programme
Man AHL is a team of researchers, developers and traders of systematic investment strategies. We apply scientific rigour and robust technology to diverse collections of data and hundreds of global markets. The open and collaborative nature of Man AHL makes it an ideal place to learn and develop as a Junior Quantitative Researcher. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects early on.
The Quant Talent Programme is designed to provide exposure to all the key areas required to build a successful systematic investment strategy with the ultimate goal of creating well-rounded quantitative researchers who are able to contribute across a wide range of areas. Successful candidates will undertake three 6-month rotations across a variety of quantitative functions covering areas such as alpha research, portfolio construction, execution research and risk management.
A formal training programme will be provided for participants at the commencement of the programme to introduce them to the key concepts and techniques used in the role. All participants will be provided with a mentor to help guide their development throughout the programme.

Accountancy & Tax Graduate Programme
Man Group’s Finance department models, analyses and reports financial information to the following:
- The business and group board (to aid better decision making).
- The company’s equity and debt holders (to meet their requirements for investing in the company)
- Regulators (to fully comply with regulatory rules and requirements).
We are a team operating in a dynamic environment with a focus on making best use of technology to deliver our work efficiently.
This graduate programme provides a unique opportunity to gain challenging and interesting experience within a performance-driven, global active investment management business by rotating through three or four placements within Finance over a two-year period.
Central Trading Graduate Programme
Man Central Trading is a team of more than 50 individuals made of traders, execution researchers and engineers who operate across multiple offices globally. Our mission is to maximise the preservation of alpha in the investment process by delivering superior execution excellence through trading specialisation. In order to achieve this, we leverage best in class execution technology and rigorous execution research.
The Central Trading Graduate Programme is designed to provide exposure to all of the key areas required to build a successful Execution Desk, with the ultimate goal of creating well-rounded Quantitative Traders who are able to contribute across a wide range of areas and products. Successful candidates will undertake four 6-month rotations across a variety of quantitative and trading functions covering areas such as systematic trading, discretionary trading, execution research, alpha research, portfolio construction, and risk management.
The open and collaborative nature of Man Central Trading makes it an ideal place to learn and develop as a Junior Quantitative Trader. It offers a unique vantage point on the rest of the company and its multiple Investment Engines. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects early on. Graduates will be provided with a mentor to help guide their development throughout the programme.
While the ability to work and learn in a fast-paced environment, multitasking, interpersonal skills, attention to details and diligence are essential and required skills for the role, due to its technical nature, we will consider applicants with strong mathematical, statistical or computing skills e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Physics from a reputable university. We welcome education levels from Bachelor’s to PhD level.
Discretionary Graduate Programme

Successful candidates for the Discretionary Graduate Programme will rotate through placements within the Discretionary team over a two-year period. Graduates will work in a number of different investment teams and Discretionary support teams such as risk, responsible investing and trading ensuring a thorough understanding of a wide range of investment strategies and investment approaches, allowing the graduate to develop a range of technical, analytical and core investing skills.
Man Group offers a mixture of professional studies, the option to pursue a CFA and on-the-job training opportunities, and every Graduate will be assigned firm's senior management team.
Operations Graduate Programme
Product & Client Operations (PCO) is a centralised department within Man Group providing wide ranging “post execution”, middle and back-office services to the Man Group investment businesses.
PCO is responsible for functions including middle office p/l and accounting analysis; core operations such as confirmations, settlements, payments, corporate actions, income and reconciliations; portfolio risk and performance analysis and client reporting, regulatory reporting, new business management, service provider selection and management; solutions analysis and project implementation.
As one of our trainees, you will gain a thorough understanding of a range of operations disciplines, including client operations, middle office accounting, trading operations and change management, in addition to being given exposure to different teams and business areas. Having completed the programme you will be well-placed to develop a long-term career in Operations at Man Group with an expectation that you would be capable of progressing into a permanent role and potentially a leadership role in the future.
Solutions Graduate Programme
Man Solutions is a seasoned team of investment experts and innovators who are dedicated to the mission of delivering alpha via multi-strategy products and bespoke investment solutions for our clients.
The Solutions business is defined by its entrepreneurial spirit and culture of excellence. We are responsible for all cross-content and customised solutions at Man. We prioritise attracting exceptional talent and broadening our range of expertise, whilst remaining focussed on delivering superior performance to our clients.
Successful candidates for the Solutions Graduate Programme will rotate through placements within the Solutions team over a two-year period. Graduates will work with several different teams including portfolio management, quant and advisory, ensuring a thorough understanding of a wide range of investment strategies, structures and solutions, allowing the graduate to develop a range of technical and analytical skills.
Technology Foundation Programme
Technology and data powers everything we do at Man Group. Our teams ensure the firm has a robust tech platform that facilitates alpha generation, portfolio management, trade execution, operations, compliance, risk management and accounting, as well as providing firm-wide end user collaboration tools.
We offer 3 different pathways into Technology:
- Platform Engineer
- Software Engineer (Python, C++, Java)
- Software Engineer (C#, .Net)
Successful candidates will undertake 6-month rotations fully embedded within our teams helping to drive technological advancement and make significant impact on our business.

Interns will undertake a self-contained research project designed to have a real-world impact on AHL’s performance. Each intern will be assigned a mentor to guide their research. Additionally, interns will have regular opportunities to present their work to the wider research team and receive feedback and suggestions.
Candidates who perform strongly during the internship may be offered a place on the Quantitative Talent Programme.

Summer Internship Programme
Successful candidates for the Summer Internship Programme will spend 12-weeks sat within one of the following departments: AHL IDI, Central Trading, Responsible Investment, or Solutions. Within their allocated teams, interns will have the opportunity to understand a wide range of different strategies, investment approaches, and learn how their allocated business area fits within Man Group. Our teams ensure the firm has a robust tech platform that facilitates alpha generation, portfolio management, trade execution, operations, compliance, risk management and accounting, as well as providing firm-wide end user collaboration tools. Our platform is built to handle scale, complexity and customisation.
Successful candidates will spend 12 weeks fully embedded within one of our teams focused on a self-contained project designed to drive technological advancement and make a significant impact on our business.
Candidates who perform strongly during the Internship Programme may be offered a full-time position on the Technology Foundation Programme.
What Happens After I Have Sent My Application?
Step 1: CV Review
Once we have reviewed your CV you will hear from us by email to confirm whether your application is being progressed. We do receive a high volume of applications so there may be a wait to hear back but we will be in touch as soon as possible.
Step 2: Homework Assignment
The next stage will be a technical homework. This should take no longer than two hours for you to complete and if successful, there will be a 30 minute VC interview with one of our engineers to discuss your solution.
Step 3: Technical Interview
There will be a 2 hour 15 minute technical interview with three engineers from the team to assess your coding skills.
Step 4: Final Interview
You will spend 45 minutes with two of our tech managers as a final stage to assess your suitability for the programme, either at our office in London, or we can complete this via VC.
