Stephen Eighteen leads Man GPM Aalto’s sourcing activities with a focus on European real estate debt.

He has over 30 years of real estate finance experience and a particularly strong origination and structuring background. He has extensive experience of all forms of real estate financing including the provision of senior and mezzanine debt, investing equity, negotiating leases and loan restructuring. Prior to joining Man GPM Aalto, Stephen managed part of the real estate lending business at Royal Bank of Scotland where between 1998 and 2008 he built a real estate debt origination platform. In that role, Stephen managed real estate lending and investment businesses in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Singapore, China, Japan and Australia and was responsible for a number of innovative financing structures including creating Opco/ Propco’s and index linked leases. In 2008, he was appointed to lead RBS’s deleveraging of a non-core real estate portfolio across 13 countries, a role he concluded at the end of 2012.

He has studied at both Harvard Business School and Manchester Business School, and from 2008 to 2012 was a member of the Bank of England Property forum.
