Steven Desmyter

Co-Head of Responsible Investment and Co-Chair of the Responsible Investment Committee

Steven Desmyter is Man Group’s Co-Head of Responsible Investment and Co-Chair of the Responsible Investment Committee. He is also Global Co-Head of Sales at Man Group and a member of the Man Group Executive Committee. Steven also serves as trustee on the board of the Man Group Charitable Trust.

Steven was previously Head of Sales for EMEA, and prior to this, he was responsible for Man Group’s institutional and retail client relationships in the Nordic region as well as in the Benelux countries. Previous to this, Steven worked at Man GLG and had various responsibilities covering institutional clients and advising client portfolios across Europe.

Before joining Man GLG in 2002, Steven spent time at Goldman Sachs in the European Equities Division covering institutional clients.

He serves on the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment Hedge Fund Advisory Committee.

Steven has presented and commented widely on the state of responsible investment over the last decade with particular expertise on ESG integration in Europe. His most recent responsible investment-related publications include a piece released through the Man Institute titled ‘Introducing Climate Change in Discretionary Portfolios’, as well as publications in NordSip, the AIMA Journal and FT Fundfire.

Furthermore, Steven has appeared on expert panels around Europe discussing the evolution in and future of responsible investment, including events with; ABN AMRO Clearing, the AIMA, KPMG and the Managed Funds Association.

Steven holds Master’s Degrees in Economics and Finance from the University of Ghent and the University of Kiel. He also holds an MBA from SDA Bocconi.
